How Imperfect Vessels came to be...

Welcome to Imperfect Vessels

Imperfect Vessels came about based on a woodturning that Mark did in the shop around June of 2022. He was turning small wooden boxes for gifts; just to pass the time. When he finished the initial turning late one evening and set the "finished" box in the shop overnight. So, that he could apply a finish to it the following day. Much to his disappointment, the piece cracked overnight.

He initially was going to throw it into the burn pile. It was then that God asked Mark was, "Is it okay for me to throw you into the burn pile?" This question really made Mark think. God had provided so many blessings in his life that his honest answer was, "of course not."

So he set off to make repairs to the box. They were not pretty and God used that to speak again. "See what happens when you try to do what only I can do?" It was a mess but Mark knew he had to continue as the initial idea of the burn pile was out!

After much care and sanding the repairs were completed. God spoke once again. "See those scars? They will remain as a reminder of where you were at. But through the care and love that I have put forth, they are scars of beauty."

This was the beginning of Imperfect Vessels. Above are pictures of that particular piece in various stages of completion.

Mark is currently working on a book that contains the full story. He is hoping to finish and publish it by the end of 2024. When completed, it will be available on ImperfectVessels.store.
